Around 20 bodies have been found after a fire at a battery factory in South Korea.

Several people are missing.

A large fire broke out at a battery factory in the city of Hwaseong south of Seoul in South Korea on Monday morning.

According to initial information, at least one person died and 19 people remained in the building.

- We still cannot go in and carry out a rescue operation. We will do so when we get the fire under control, a firefighter told Yonhap news agency in the morning.

It was later announced that around 20 bodies have been found in the battery factory - and the death toll may continue to rise.

Firefighter Kim Jin-Youn told Yonhap that more than 100 people were in the building when several explosions occurred.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. According to firefighters, it must have been difficult to extinguish the fire in the three-story concrete building.
