John Hunt lost his wife and two children when his ex-son-in-law attacked.

Now the BBC star talks about the grief.

- I am devastated, he says.

Carol Hunt, 61 and daughters Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28 were killed in a crossbow attack at their Hertfordshire home on Tuesday.

Neighbors have left horrifying testimonies of the screams before the house finally fell silent.

Barely a day later, 26-year-old Kyle Clifford was arrested on suspicion of triple murder.

He had previously had a relationship with Louise Hunt which ended in a messy break-up. And just days before the act of madness, Louise wrote a tweet praising women who have the courage to break up and leave destructive relationships.

Now the father and husband John Hunt, racing commentator for the BBC, and daughter Amy open up about their grief and thank them for the support they have received.

"The disaster we are experiencing cannot be put into words. We want to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received over the past few days. These have given us great comfort for which we are very grateful,” they say in a statement, adding:

"As you can understand, this is an extremely difficult time for us, and we need time and space to process what has happened and begin a grieving process."

Kyle Clifford is being treated in hospital with serious injuries, according to Sky News, which has images of being taken there on a stretcher.

The police in Hertfordshire state that a crossbow has been recovered, but that it is also believed that other weapons were used in connection with the crime.
