Analysis: von der Leyen shifts political focus
With her speech before this afternoon's vote, Ursula von der Leyen shifts the focus in politics, says SR's Brussels correspondent Andreas Liljeheden.
- Last term, it was clear that it was climate legislation, the green given, that was her big flagship. Now there is much more focus on industry and investment in increased competitiveness with new funds.
SvD's Theresa Küchler writes that before the election von der Leyen portrays herself as a guarantor of stability in an uncertain environment.
"Ultimately, von der Leyen seems to be betting that the anxiety and uncertainty about the future, in a time of war and perhaps with a president in the United States swaying about the transatlantic friendship, will be what secures her re-election," Küchler writes.
