Iran rages: Information about assassination plans fake
Iran's embassy in the United States categorically refutes CNN's information that the country had plans to try to assassinate presidential candidate Donald Trump. Reuters reports.
According to the mission, Donald Trump is indeed to be considered a criminal after approving the attack that killed the Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020. Nevertheless, it states in a statement that "Iran has chosen the legal path to justice".
There are no known links between this weekend's assassination attempt against Donald Trump and Iran, according to US authorities.

Information: The US received information about an Iranian assassination plot - no known connection to the shootings
The Secret Service has received information about an Iranian plan to assassinate presidential candidate Donald Trump, sources told CNN. According to the TV channel, there is no known connection to this weekend's attempted murder.
The information must have come to the authorities' attention from "a human source" during "the last few weeks".
It is unclear whether Donald Trump's campaign was informed.
"We do not comment on specific security issues," the campaign writes in a statement to the channel.

Former Swat cop: Never let him stand up
The Secret Service should never have let Donald Trump stand up after the shootings, because they couldn't know there wasn't another shooter. This is what a former American police officer, who worked with the SWAT task force and close to the Secret Service, told SvD.
- If it had been me with a president or ex-president, I would have pushed him down, he would not have been allowed to raise his fist in the air. They did a poor job of getting him off the stage.
The source also says that the Secret Service agents who were with Trump were likely not the "A team" - the most experienced guard the sitting president, i.e. Biden. These have an easier time picking up small things in the environment, which the newer and more inexperienced ones have difficulty doing, according to the source.
