New Prime Minister in Sudan – to find a new government
On Saturday, Kamil Idris was appointed Sudan's first prime minister in four years. On Sunday, it was announced that he had dissolved the transitional government and that work to establish a new government would now begin. Reuters writes, citing the state news agency Suna.
It is still unclear when a new government could be in place. The country has been without a government during the civil war that has raged since 2023.
The paramilitary RSF, which is in conflict with government forces, has promised to create its own government in 2025.
The army carries out new attacks on the paramilitary RSF
The fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary RSF is escalating in the western parts of the country, writes AFP. On Sunday, three drone attacks were directed at the RSF's strategically important locations in the city of Nyala.
A hotel, a medical facility and RSF strongholds on the eastern outskirts of the city were hit in the attacks. A witness told the news agency that several people were injured.
The RSF has controlled Nyala and other parts of western and southern Sudan throughout the civil war. Air strikes against the paramilitary group have become increasingly frequent in recent times.
