Cartel Boss “El Mencho” Buried in Gold Casket
Notorious cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, known by his nickname El Mencho, has been buried after Mexican federal forces killed him in a raid last week. The AP reports.
Photos from the funeral in a suburb of Guadalajara show him being laid to rest surrounded by a coffin that is completely covered in gold.
The funeral was surrounded by a huge security presence from both the military and armed cartel members. Dozens of mourners attended the funeral and a band played banda music. The style of music has a subgenre called narcocorridos that glorifies the violence of the cartels.
Elections in Denmark
The left has the upper hand - Løkke could become the wave master
Despite the upswing in public opinion, the Danish bourgeoisie is dreaming of a blue government after the election on March 24. This is reported by Jyllands-Posten, which publishes a new opinion poll with three weeks left until the election.
“We are not deterred by the fact that the blue bloc is lagging behind,” says Sólbjørg Jakobsen from the liberal party Liberal Alliance (LA).
LA is fighting another liberal party, Venstre, to become the largest bourgeois party. Both get around ten percent in the poll.
Overall, the left, led by Mette Frederiksen’s Social Democrats, has a clear lead over the right: 87 seats to 77. The center-right Moderates, led by Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, could thus become the wave leader with their 11 seats.
The newspaper Berlingske also publishes an opinion poll asking who voters want to see as prime minister. Here, Mette Frederiksen outclasses the other candidates.
Today, Denmark is governed by a coalition between the Social Democrats, Venstre and the Moderates.
