Trump: It's up to Zelensky to fix a deal
Donald Trump gives no indication that a solution to the Ukraine war has come any closer in an interview with Politico.
As many times before, the president says that he thinks the ball is in Zelensky's court.
- Zelensky has to get started, he has to fix a deal, says the president and adds:
- I think Putin is ready to make a deal.
The US, Ukraine and Russia have held several trilateral talks in recent months. New talks were supposed to be held this week, but they have been postponed due to the situation in the Middle East.
The thorny issue of territory is still not resolved. Russia is demanding that Ukraine give up more land, and Ukraine refuses.
Tripartite talks on Ukraine postponed
Tripartite
talks between the United States, Ukraine and Russia on peace in Ukraine
have been postponed due to the war in the Middle East, Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelenskyj said on X.
The talks were scheduled to be held between March 5 and 9.
“We
discussed with the American side, since they are the ones who invited
Ukraine and Russia to the meeting, the possibility of changing the venue
and postponing the meeting for a while due to the war in the Middle
East,” Zelenskyj wrote.
The world's response
Zelenskyj: Maybe our soldiers will give Orbán's address
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj became increasingly irritated with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Thursday, Reuters reported.
Zelensky spoke to reporters on Thursday about the 90 million euro aid package that the EU has prepared for Ukraine, but which Orbán is blocking because he wants Ukraine to start transporting Russian oil to Hungary again.
Ukraine hopes that “a certain person” will stop blocking the aid package so that the army can get weapons, Zelensky said, adding:
“Otherwise, we might have to give this person’s address to our army, to our guys. Let them call him and talk to him in their language.

Russia imprisons Romanian – allegedly spying for Ukraine
A Romanian citizen has been sentenced to 125 years in prison in Russia for spying for Ukraine, AFP reports. According to the verdict, the man himself contacted the Ukrainian intelligence service and then gathered information about a Russian air defense installation near the coastal city of Sochi.
Russia has arrested a number of foreign nationals suspected of espionage since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
