The Italian Air Force tweeted that Russian warplanes had violated Swedish and Polish airspace.
But the Swedish Armed Forces denies the information.
"We have not had any violation, they were over international waters," writes the Swedish Armed Forces in an email to Aftonbladet.
The Italian Air Force stated on Twitter that four Russian fighter jets have violated Swedish and Polish airspace.
When the violation allegedly took place is unclear, but the tweet was published on Wednesday afternoon.
Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist participated in a press conference during the afternoon and was then asked if Sweden had been subjected to a violation.
- It is not a task that we have, he says.
The Armed Forces: That is not true
The information was later denied by the Armed Forces press service.
"We have not had any violation, they were over international waters," writes the Swedish Armed Forces in an email to Aftonbladet.

US intelligence believes that parts of the Ukrainian government approved the car bomb attack near Moscow in August that killed Daria Dugina, writes the New York Times.
Daria Dugina was the daughter of the ideologue Alexandr Dugin, who has been called "Putin's brain".
It has been speculated whether Alexandr Dugin was the real target when the daughter was riding in his car home from a festival.
Russia
has previously claimed that Ukraine was behind the assassination, a
claim that has been rejected by Ukrainian authorities. But now the US is also pointing at Ukraine.
