A Russian warplane has crashed into an apartment building in Krasnodar. 

The engine caught fire at takeoff and the pilots managed to eject from the cockpit, writes TASS. 

The building is burning from the first to the ninth floor, according to reports. 

A military aircraft has crashed into a residential building in Yeysk in Russia's Krasnodar, reports the Russian news agency TASS. 

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, it is a combat aircraft of the model Su-34 that crashed, writes TASS. The pilots must have ejected before the crash. 

The building is nine stories high and there is fire from the first to the ninth floor, according to TASS. 

A massive explosion and plumes of smoke can be seen in pictures from the scene. In connection with the crash, the aviation fuel ignited, according to the Ministry of Defence. 

There is no official information yet on injured or dead people. At least 17 apartments are said to have been damaged, according to Krasnodar's governor. 

Yeysk is located in western Russia on Lake Azov.
