More than 20 children have died in the mass shooting at a preschool in Thailand.
The perpetrator is believed to be a former police officer who killed himself and his family after the attack.
More than 30 people have died in a mass shooting in Thailand.
- At least 20 people have died but details continue to come in, deputy police chief Achayon Kraithong told the Reuters news agency at an early stage.
The AP news agency reports that at least 30 people died in the attack, and refers to a statement from the police. Both children and adults are among the victims.
A former police officer is behind the attack which is said to have taken place at a preschool. The perpetrator used knives and firearms before fleeing the scene.
After the attack, a manhunt was launched for the police suspect. Later, the police stated that the perpetrator took his own life.
The news agency AFP writes that he also allegedly killed his family after the mass shooting.
District police Chakkraphat Wichitvaidya says the man lost his job last year for drug-related reasons, according to Reuters.
A spokesperson for the region tells Bloomberg that at least 23 children have been killed in the attack. So far, two teachers have been found dead.
