The prosecutor has decided to cordon off the area around the Nord Stream leaks in the Baltic Sea.

The area is classified as a crime scene and must be investigated.

The area blocked off corresponds to five nautical miles. This means that no ships may travel in the area. It is also prohibited to fish, dive at anchor and operate an underwater craft.

The area is now considered a suspected crime scene, and an investigation is to be carried out.

The crime classification is currently gross sabotage. The preliminary investigation takes place in collaboration with the Security Police. There is no suspect yet.

- The investigation continues, we are in an intensive stage. We have good cooperation with several authorities in the matter. I understand the great public interest, but we are at the beginning of a preliminary investigation and I cannot therefore go into details about which investigative measures we are taking, says Chamber prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist in a press release.

"Is there an ongoing release"

Earlier today, the Coast Guard stated that the discharge from Nord Stream 2 is increasing again. According to the authority, the spill was approximately 30 meters in diameter.

At 18:00 a new overflight was made, where you could see that the discharge was between 15 and 20 meters in diameter.

"This means that there is still an ongoing discharge, albeit a small one," writes the Coast Guard in a press release.

The larger discharge from Nord Stream 1 is still not visible on the water surface.

At the same time, the Russian company Gazprom says that the leaks have been stopped and that the pressure has stabilized, according to Reuters.
