The White House has expressed concern about the influence of the Sweden Democrats in the next government, sources tell

Expressen.

 

According to the source, they perceive the Sweden Democrats as a controversial party. 

 

- The Americans will not share things with us if there is a concern that Russia will get the information, the source told the newspaper. 

 

The Social Democrats will shortly hand over the baton to Ulf Kristersson and the right-wing bloc that will form a government. 

 

The progress of the Sweden Democrats and possible influence in a future government has provoked reactions outside of Sweden as well. 

 

Recently there were reports that the Liberals' cooperation with the Sweden Democrats has caused anger within the party group in the EU Parliament.

According to information to Expressen, concerns are now being raised from the other side of the Atlantic. Sources tell the newspaper that the outgoing government has received many questions about what a change of power and what the role of the Sweden Democrats might entail. 

 

Among other things, employees of Foreign Minister Antony Blinken are said to have expressed concern in contact with the Swedish government. 

 

- It is not a decent party, as they see it, and I would say that it could be deeply problematic for the incoming government. The Americans will not share things with us if there is a concern that Russia gets the information through the SD, says a government source with insight.

Linde: "Many countries worried" 

 

In an interview withI Aftonbladet, outgoing Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) expressed similar sentiments. 

 

- It is no secret that many countries are concerned about the rise of right-wing nationalists. It's one of the questions I get most often now: What does this mean?, says Linde. 

 

- I can only be honest and say that we don't really know - but of course there is a concern with us as well. In countries such as France and Germany, right-wing nationalist parties also have great influence. Of course it has consequences for politics.
