There is a fire in a warehouse next to the airport in Brussels, writes Belgian Le Soir.

No one is said to have been injured in the fire, but parts of the roof have collapsed.

- The building is almost completely destroyed, says a firefighter on site to the newspaper.

The fire is said to have broken out at 4pm on Thursday.

The warehouse is 4,000 square meters in size, but according to the emergency services, there seems to be no further risk of fire spreading at the moment.

- The extinguishing work on the building in question will take several hours, or probably all night, says Wouter Jeanfils, spokesman for the rescue service, to the newspaper Le Soir and continues:

- The building is almost completely destroyed and it will probably be necessary to remove the debris with cranes to completely extinguish everything.

Despite the large-scale fire, an airport spokesman has confirmed that airport operations are not affected, according to the RBTF.

However, people in the area around the airport were advised to keep windows and doors closed.
