DEBATE

DEBATE. On June 18, the Riksdag will vote on the so-called DCA agreement, which means that Sweden leases 17 military facilities around the country to the American military. The US also gets the opportunity to train, deploy military personnel and store defense equipment in Sweden.

The sgreement represents a historic shift in Swedish security policy and contains no prohibition against nuclear weapons being into or placed in Sweden.

The government has previously stated that no nuclear weapons should be allowed on Swedish territory in peacetime. Despite this, there is no provision for reservations in the government's proposal.

When Ulf Kristersson was asked about this, it became clear that the government was unable to stand up for Swedish interests when the United States exerted pressure.

Ulf Kristersson finds it difficult to answer the question and does not get more precise than to repeat the mantra that "the question is completely undramatic". That's not true. The question is very dramatic.

There are currently no guarantees that the nuclear weapons will stay outside Sweden's borders

The DCA agreement is one of the most important political and military agreements that Sweden has signed in modern times.

This means that Sweden's self- determination is decreasing and that the threat picture against Sweden is increasing. Deeper analysis and a very proper debate about the DCA- avtbehövs djupare analys och en mycket ordentlig debatt om DCA agreement is needed to clarify what it may mean for Sweden and Swedish people.

In both Norway's and Denmark's agreement with the US, it is clearly stated that the countries do not accept the pre-storage of nuclear weapons on their territories. Finland also has a law that prohibits the importation of nuclear weapons into the country.

Sweden cannot be the only country in the Nordics that does not have a law or written policy against nuclear weapons. verige kan inte vara det enda land i Norden som inte har en lag eller skriftlig policy mot kärnvapen. We demand total transparency from Ulf Kristersson in this matter. den här frågan. What demands has the US made and what has Sweden promised?

Recently, the prime minister opened up about nuclear weapons on Swedish soil in wartime. At the same time, he claimed that there is no need for clarification against nuclear weapons in peacetime, as the Riksdag has already decided on this in previous bills, something which, on closer inspection, did not turn out to be true.

There are currently no guarantees that the nuclear weapons will stay outside Sweden's borders.

S-women and Social Democrats for faith and solidarity demand that the government puts the safety of the Swedish people first and makes it clear that nuclear weapons must never be stored or transported within the country's borders.

The fact that the government, in parallel with increased military investment and rearmament, withdraws funding to the Swedish peace movement and weakens the possibility of scrutiny is deeply problematic. In a time of increased tensions and global rearmament, it is more important than ever that Sweden continues to be a voice for peace and disarmament.
