Biden gives shelter to half a million undocumented
Joe Biden has presented an initiative to protect around 500,000 undocumented immigrants from deportation, US media reports.
Those covered are undocumented who are married to US citizens and have been in the country for at least ten years. They are now allowed to apply for a work permit and a fast track to citizenship.
The move comes after opinion polls showed that migration is one of voters' most important issues ahead of the November election
Biden has come under fire after recently introducing legislation to reduce the flow of migrants at the southern border - legislation that critics say is as harsh as that advocated by Donald Trump, writes The Guardian.

Biden stops in new clip - White House fights back
A video from a star-studded Los Angeles fundraiser for Joe Biden's campaign has gone viral on social media. Once again, it is Biden's age and mental capacity that are in focus.
As the crowd applauds, Biden appears to "freeze." Barack Obama puts his hand on him as quickly as possible, after which they both leave the stage. In a post on X, users write that Biden was "led off" the stage by Obama. The event was described in the same way by the New York Post.
The White House has shared a longer clip where Biden smiles and takes in the audience's applause, writes the BBC. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre accuses Republicans of trying desperately to distract from Donald Trump's lawsuits. She also says that clips are manipulated with evil intentions.
