Israel: Attacks southern Lebanon - response to rocket attacks

Israel says in a statement that it carried out attacks in southern Lebanon, AFP reports. The attacks take place as a response to the rocket attacks carried out by Hezbollah during Thursday morning.

The Iran-backed Shia militia says it fired 200 rockets at Israeli posts in the border area and at the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights. In turn, it must have happened as a response to yesterday's Israeli attack, in which the top name Mohammad Naameh Nasser was killed.

Hezbollah: Has fired 200 rockets at northern Israel

The Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah says it fired more than 200 rockets at Israel on Thursday morning, AP and AFP report. The attacks are said to have taken place against Israeli posts in the border area and at the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

Sirens sounded in northern Israel during the morning as a warning of the attacks. According to the Israeli army, 17 alarms were triggered during 1.5 hours in several areas, writes AFP.

The attack comes a day after an Israeli strike in Lebanon killed senior Hezbollah leader Mohammad Naameh Nasser.
