Israel expands “combat zone” in southern Lebanon
The Israeli military says the area south of the Zahrani River in Lebanon is a “combat zone”.
Thus, Israel appears to be expanding its offensive in Lebanon despite the current ceasefire.
Military spokesman Avichay Adraee said that Israel will “act with great force in light of the terrorist organization Hezbollah’s repeated violations of the ceasefire”.
Zahrani, located about 40 kilometers from the Lebanon-Israel border, is a “combat zone” and all residents should head north, according to the spokesman.
The mouth of the Zahrani River is north of the Litani River, which previously served as a border marker for Israel and its demand to establish a “security zone” in southern Lebanon.
On Wednesday, Israeli airstrikes were also carried out on areas near the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.
