US President Donald Trump's portrait will adorn a brand new 250 dollar bill. But the plans have run into trouble.

Staff at the US Treasury Department's Engraving and Printing Division have been asked to produce prototypes for a bill with Trump's portrait, reports The Washington Post.

The requests have come from Treasurer Brandon Beach and his advisor Mike Brown, both political appointees at the department, ahead of the country's 250th anniversary this summer.

But Beach and Brown have reportedly been informed that there are obstacles to producing the bill and that the schedule is being disrupted. However, they are said to have reacted negatively to the information, according to staff at the Treasury Department.

A printing manager who opposed the proposal states that she has been reassigned.
