U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone this weekend—reportedly regarding the next steps in the conflict with Iran.

Sources have told Axios that Netanyahu is pushing Trump to strike Iran immediately following Tuesday’s U.S. midterm elections, while Trump is said to currently prefer letting negotiations take their course.

An Israeli source describes the conversation as “tough,” while an American source calls it “frank.” Trump has confirmed that he discussed Iran with Netanyahu, though he did not provide any details.

On Sunday, Trump stated that there remain one or two Iranian targets that the U.S. needs to “take care of.” Iran warned that a new war could become quite protracted.

According to AFP, Trump reiterated his threat during a campaign rally in Iowa, claiming that he might “bring out the big guns” against Iran at some point.
