Riot police and protesters have clashed in Buenos Aires after President Milei presented new budget proposals.
The scenes in the capital are described as a "battlefield".
There are large protests outside the parliament in the capital, Buenos Aires. Protesters have thrown petrol, Molotov cocktails and stones at the police, who in turn responded with water cannons and tear gas, several international media reports.
Several people are said to be injured and local media describe the scenes as a "battlefield". Films from the scene show how some men overturn a police car, which they then set on fire.
Economic state of emergency
The background is a reform package, which the right-wing populist president Javier Milei put forward, with the aim of reviving the country's economy. But the proposal involves an economic state of emergency with budget cuts, reduced pensions and weakened labor rights.
The publishers have been criticized, among others by the political opposition and trade unions, who believe that the measures will harm millions of Argentines.
The bill passed after Vice President Victoria Villarruel cast the deciding vote in a divided Senate.
