The Finnish Left Federation made a successful election in Helsinki's wealthiest areas, reports Hufvudstadsbladet. Party leader and top candidate Li Andersson is described as a superior winner in the parts of the capital with the highest housing prices.
Andersson received almost 250,000 votes and was by far the largest in the Ulrikasborg, Eira and Rödbergen districts.
Resident Pasi Riikonen is surprised but adds:
- She has been a vote magnet.
Li Andersson broke a new voting record with almost 100,000 votes and has himself described the result as shocking. The collective party is still the largest if you look at the whole of Helsinki.

Sour pass to the rival: "Hope his ego can handle it"
The Danish Socialist People's Party's top candidate Kira Marie Peter-Hansen received the most votes in the election to the European Parliament, reports DR. With 178,438 votes, she got just over 4,000 more than Morten Løkkegaard from the bourgeois party Venstre.
Peter-Hansen, who entered parliament as a substitute after the last election at the age of just 21, thinks the number is "crazy" and admits that it feels good to beat the early favourite.
- Hope his ego can handle it.
Peter-Hansen became the youngest ever to take a seat in Brussels and with this year's strong results behind her, she hopes to avoid being considered "the young one".
