US Attacks Houthi Rebels in Yemen – Iran Warns

The US has carried out extensive airstrikes against the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen on Saturday, President Donald Trump said.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warns that “hell will rain down upon you” if the Houthi rebels do not stop targeting commercial and American ships in the region.

Trump also warns Iran against continuing to support the group. If Iran threatens the US, “the United States will hold you fully accountable,” he writes.

The attack comes just days after the rebels announced plans to resume attacks on Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, among other places.

At least nine reported dead: “Like an earthquake”

At least nine people have died in US attacks on the Houthi movement in Yemen’s capital Sanaa, the Houthi-controlled health ministry said, according to Reuters. Another nine people were reported injured.

According to residents of Sanaa who the news agency spoke to, a building in a stronghold belonging to the militant rebel group was hit by the US airstrikes.

– The explosions were violent and shook the area like an earthquake, says resident Abdullah Yahia.

What about the matter?

Since November 2023, the Houthi rebels have targeted both civilian and military ships, often using drones and missiles. These attacks have been justified as support for Palestine during the conflict between Israel and Hamas. International efforts, including military responses from the US and Britain, have tried to counter the threat. The situation has affected trade routes and increased tensions in the region.
