Donald Trump has ordered a massive airstrike against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
He writes this on Truth Social.
"Hell will fall on you," he writes to the rebels.
The US will carry out a "decisive and powerful" attack on several targets controlled by the Iran-backed Houthi movement.
The goal? To try to open the blocked passage that runs through the Red Sea.
In the post, Trump calls his representative Joe Biden's attempts to do the same "pathetically weak."
"Deadly Force"
The US will use "overwhelmingly deadly force" until the rebels have stopped attacking ships and shipping in the region, Trump writes.
"No terrorist force should be allowed to prevent American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the world's waterways," he writes.
In the post, he also raises a warning finger to Iran.
He writes that their support for the Houthi movement must end immediately and says that if Iran threatens the US, they will be held accountable.
The US attacks were ordered days after the Houthi movement announced that they would begin attacking Israeli ships off Yemen, as a protest against Israel's blockade of emergency aid to Gaza.
Explosions in the capital – nine dead
On Saturday evening, there were reports of several explosions in the capital, Saana, writes TT.
Pictures show black smoke billowing from the city's airport, which is located near military facilities.
It is unclear how extensive the damage is.
Houthi-controlled health authorities say at least nine people have been killed in the US airstrikes.
Since the war in Gaza broke out following Hamas's terrorist attack on October 7, the Houthi movement has attacked several military and civilian ships in the Red Sea to show solidarity with the people of Gaza.
