Tech companies' data centers are guzzling water in dry areas

Several of the big tech companies' data centers are located in areas where there is a severe water shortage. They are also in the process of building even more, according to a review by The Guardian.

The data centers, owned by Amazon, Microsoft and Google, are used to store and process large amounts of data. Large amounts of water are required to cool the large servers.

According to the newspaper, many of the data centers that the companies plan to build are located in some of the world's driest areas.

Algae makes California sea lions sick and aggressive

At least two people have been attacked by sea lions on the coast of Southern California, several media outlets report.

Now experts believe that the animals have probably ingested toxic algae that is affecting their behavior.

- These animals are reacting to the fact that they are sick. They are disoriented and most of them are probably having seizures, John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Center in Los Angeles, told the BBC.

According to CNN, climate change has led to more and more severe algal blooms, and thus more sea lions being poisoned.
