Trump is having a busy day.
Now climate change is in focus.
Blocking action against it, that is.
Drill, baby, drill, was one of the American president's slogans during the election campaign. He doesn't give much thought to working against climate change.
Now he has made a concrete move, he signed another presidential order. It will block the laws that have been hammered through to reduce the use of fossil fuels, limit carbon emissions and work against climate change.
The decision came just a few hours after he ordered to increase the country's coal production, writes the news agency Reuters.
Roll back climate laws
With his order, Trump instructed US Attorney General Pam Bondi to identify state laws that deal with climate change, EFG initiatives (environmental, social responsibility and corporate governance initiatives), environmental justice and carbon emissions. And then to block them.
"Many states have adopted, or are in the process of adopting, burdensome and ideologically motivated climate change or energy policies that threaten American energy dominance and our economic and national security," the order said.
Wants to remove emission caps
The president focused primarily on New York and Vermont, where fossil fuel companies have been forced to pay fines for climate change. He also wants to take action against California's emissions cap and stop lawsuits in which states try to hold companies accountable for their part in global warming.
The oil and gas industry's American Petroleum Institute praised Trump's executive order.
