Dozens arrested at London demonstrations
More than 30 people have been arrested in connection with two large demonstrations in London on Saturday, the city's police force said.
"There have been 31 arrests in total during the operation so far," writes the Metropolitan Police in London in a post on X, and continues:
"This may be perceived as a high number, but both demonstrations have largely passed without any major incidents."
Images from the demonstration marches published by Sky News show thousands of people participating in both demonstrations.
One protest is organized by supporters of right-wing extremist and activist Tommy Robinson under the slogan "One Kingdom". The second march is being organized in memory of the displacement of Palestinians and in protest against the war in Gaza.
At least 4,000 police officers have been deployed to handle the events.
