After Saturday's dramatic car attack in Modena, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni cancels a planned trip to Cyprus.

Instead, she is going to northern Italy to visit the injured.

Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella are heading to Modena where a 31-year-old man has been arrested after he hit several people and crashed into a shop window. Eight people were injured, four of them seriously. An injured woman is reported to have lost both of her legs.

After getting out of the car, the suspect is said to have tried to stab passersby who tried to stop him. He was arrested after being overpowered by several people.

The man is not known to the police before. There is nothing to indicate terrorism, according to Italian media. The 31-year-old is said to have been treated for mental illness a few years ago.
