Sources: Trump and Netanyahu in heated standoff over Iran
US
President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
reportedly had a heated phone call on Tuesday about the way forward
regarding the war in Iran. This is reported by Axios and the Wall Street
Journal.
Trump reportedly announced that he believes the war can
be ended with an agreement and that the mediating countries are
currently working on a declaration of intent that could end the war.
Netanyahu, for his part, is said to have been very skeptical of the
negotiations and has pushed for a resumption of the war in order to
further weaken Iran and its regime.
According to a source,
Netanyahu was very upset after the conversation. Israeli sources claim
that the prime minister has also been concerned earlier during the
negotiations between the US and Iran, even though these have not led to
anything.
Netanyahu is now said to want to come to the White House for a meeting with Trump.
Sources: Iran is recovering surprisingly quickly – already manufacturing new drones
Iran
has quickly managed to strengthen its military capabilities in
connection with the ceasefire that began in early April. Among other
things, the country has already resumed parts of its drone production.
This assessment is made by US intelligence, sources with insight tell
CNN.
The fact that the Iranian recovery has been made so quickly surprises the US, according to four of the sources.
- The Iranians have exceeded all the timeframes that the intelligence service had for the reconstruction, says an informant.
If
Iran manages to build up its missile systems and launch pads and resume
weapons production, the country still poses a threat to the US and its
allies in the region. CNN writes that the source information raises
questions about how much the US and Israeli attacks have actually
weakened Iran.
The Trump administration has repeatedly stressed
that Iran has suffered enormous military losses. The president has also
repeatedly threatened new attacks if Iran does not agree to a deal.

Middle East Crisis Peace Talks
Iran: We are evaluating the latest proposal for a peace deal
Tehran
is currently working on evaluating the latest American proposal for a
ceasefire. This is stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson
Esmaeil Baghaei, according to Reuters.
The proposal has been
developed with the help of Pakistani mediation. AFP reports that
Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir will travel to Iran on Thursday for
"talks and consultations" with Iranian authorities.
The
information comes the day after US President Donald Trump said that the
US is ready to wait a few more days for a "proper response" from Iran
regarding the latest proposal for a peace deal.
