Abdul El-Sayed declares victory in Michigan
“Michigan, I look forward to working for you in Washington.”
Democrat Abdul El-Sayed holds a commanding lead in Michigan’s Senate race and has declared victory.
“Thank you for your trust, your faith, and your kindness,” El-Sayed told jubilant supporters at his election night gathering.
Abdul El-Sayed is a public health expert with a medical background. He is set to become the first Muslim senator in the United States.
His Republican opponent, former Congressman and FBI agent Mike Rogers, received unexpected support over the weekend from Haley Stevens—the Democrat who had challenged El-Sayed in the primary.
