Iran: Americans say no to war
Americans are voting "no" to war, according to an Iranian interpretation of the U.S. midterm elections.
Whether it is a matter of "conscience or the cost of living," the American people have said no to war, writes Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, on social media.
Exit polls in the U.S. have indicated that the most important issues for voters were economic concerns and democracy. U.S. President Donald Trump, however, acknowledges that the war with Iran has been a factor.
Trump tells *The New York Times* that voters likely do not have major objections to the war itself, and that he does not regret the decision to start it:
"But they probably weren't very happy with the price of oil."
A statement attributed to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, suggests that the U.S. is unlikely to change course regardless of the election results, and asserts that there is no reason to make concessions.
