Sources: Tiktok deal gives the US the equivalent of 95 billion

The US could receive the equivalent of around 95 billion kronor in fees in connection with the settlement over Tiktok's future in the country, sources tell the Wall Street Journal. In January, a new company was formed in which Bytedance shares ownership with Oracle, among others.

American investors are said to have paid large sums to the state to broker the agreement.

According to the sources, $2.5 billion has already been paid to the Treasury Department. More payments are expected until a total of around $10 billion has been paid. The settlement also means that Tiktok's US operations will receive majority American ownership.
