Energy crisis in Europe
Expensive fuel causes SAS to cancel 1,000 flights

SAS is canceling 1,000 flights in April due to the war in Iran and rising fuel prices, CEO Anko van der Werff tells Dagens industri.

– The price of jet fuel has doubled in ten days. Even though we are trying to absorb cost increases as much as we can, this is a shock that hits the aviation industry directly.

He points out that SAS has 800 flights per day and that a thousand canceled flights in a month are therefore not such drastic measures.

The canceled flights are a way for the airline to strengthen its resilience, TV4 reported earlier today.

– It is catastrophic for us that prices are skyrocketing, says Alexandra Lindgren Kaoukji, head of communications at SAS.

She believes that the biggest challenge for SAS is the uncertainty about how long the situation will last, when the entire European aviation system is affected by a sudden and severe fuel shock.

The chip battle
Tech manager: “Take Nvidia’s figure with a pinch of salt”

The demand for Nvidia’s AI chip is enormous and the forecast will be adjusted up further. This is what Inge Heydorn, manager at Chelverton, tells DI.

Yesterday at the GTC technology conference, Nvidia raised a forecast to pull in $1 trillion on its two flagship chips Blackwell and Rubin by 2027. Heydorn believes that the figures are significantly stronger than that and therefore “should be taken with a pinch of salt”.

– The chips are completely sold out. They could sell so much more, the problem is the production capacity, he says.

Information: Trump offers billion – if the company cancels wind power construction

The Trump administration is considering a settlement with the French energy company Total Energies. The New York Times reports.

The aim is to cancel ongoing offshore wind power construction on the American East Coast, projects that the company was awarded by the Biden administration. Instead, Trump wants Total Energies to invest in natural gas infrastructure in Texas.

The settlement includes 929 million dollars, or 8.6 billion kronor, the newspaper writes.
