Tariff crisis Trump's tariff policy

China agrees with US on stable tariffs

China and the US have agreed to stabilize tariffs at current levels between the two countries. During a press conference, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang stated that "both sides are in agreement", according to Bloomberg.

Opponents confident of victory ahead of new review of tariffs

Just a few weeks after the Supreme Court invalidated Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" tariffs, he imposed sweeping new tariffs of 10 percent on the majority of US trading partners. Legal proceedings will soon be held regarding these as well, writes Politico.

Trump Criticizes Judges: “They Have Every Right to Raise Tariffs”

Donald Trump Hits Back at the Supreme Court in a Late-Night Rant on Truth Social.

In one of his posts, he addresses the Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate the sweeping tariffs he imposed last April under the federal IEEPA law of 1977.

The court, he writes, “knew where I stood on the issue, how much I wanted this victory,” but still decided to “potentially give away thousands of billions of dollars to countries and companies that have exploited the United States for decades.”

At the same time, he writes that he “has the absolute right” to impose tariffs in other forms, adding that he has already started.

Regarding the repayment of the invalid tariffs, he writes:

“Our unfriendly competitors should not be compensated and rewarded for the decades of damage they have caused the United States. I will fight hard to make sure that does not happen!”
