Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei is hiding.
The US, however, is not giving up the search and is now promising a bounty.
100 million kroner.
Iran's supreme leader took over from his father Ali Khamenei when he died in attacks on the first day of the war. But he hasn't been seen since.
However, the US remains keen to find and kill him.
Their new ace up their sleeve – a bounty of up to $10 million for anyone with information on his whereabouts.
One of ten
The US State Department's terrorism reward program has issued the reward.
But it is not just Khamenei who is wanted.
Nine of Iran's leading figures are on the list. Among them are Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib and Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi.
"These individuals command and lead various parts of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plans, organizes and carries out terrorism around the world," the "poster" says.
Promise protection
In addition to a huge reward for their capture, they also promise the opportunity to be relocated and receive protection.
"Do you have information about these Iranian terrorist leaders? Send us a tip. It may make you eligible for a reward and the possibility of relocation," they write in the post.
But they do not go into detail about what information is required to reach the top reward of 10 million dollars, around 100 million Swedish kronor.
