Yemen: Government forces claim attack on Sanaa
Powerful explosions were heard in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, on Saturday, according to an AFP journalist on the scene.
Forces loyal to the internationally recognized government confirmed they had carried out attacks against "legitimate, key military targets" in the Houthi-controlled capital, Al Jazeera reports.
The Iran-backed Houthi movement stated that Saudi forces had conducted airstrikes in the area, according to the media outlet Al-Masirah TV, which is linked to the Yemeni movement.
In Sanaa, an AFP correspondent heard at least five explosions in various areas, while another reporter saw two fighter jets fire missiles at the capital.
A fragile ceasefire between the Houthi movement and Yemen's internationally recognized government—which is militarily backed by Saudi Arabia—collapsed in July. The country's civil war has been ongoing for over a decade.
