This year's hajj is getting more and more deadly.

Over 1,000 people have died so far.

During the pilgrimage in 2023, around 200 people died.

During this year's hajj, the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, over 1,000 people have died due to the extreme heat in Saudi Arabia.

Unregistered pilgrims make up more than half of those who died during the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the AFP news agency reports.

The new deaths reported on Thursday included 58 people from Egypt, according to an Arab diplomat who provided a tally showing that of the total of 658 dead from that country, 630 were unregistered.

During Monday, the temperature should have reached 51.8 degrees Celsius according to the country's national metrological center.
