Syria and Iraq strengthen cooperation against IS
The transitional government in Syria is ready to "strengthen" cooperation with Iraq in the fight against the terrorist group IS. This is what Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad al-Shaibani said, who visited Baghdad on Friday, AFP reports.

On Friday, it was also announced that IS leader Abu Khadija had been killed by Iraqi forces and US-led coalition forces in Iraq.
IS leader killed in Iraq: "Victory over the forces of darkness"
The leader of IS in Iraq and Syria has been killed, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said, according to Reuters.
Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rufay'i, also known as Abu Khadija, was reportedly killed by Iraqi security forces with the support of US-led coalition forces.
"Iraqis continue their impressive victories over the forces of darkness and terrorism," the prime minister wrote on X.
