Democrats ready to reluctantly vote yes to budget – to stop Musk
Democrats in the US Senate seem ready to reluctantly vote yes to a Republican budget proposal that they actually hate, writes Politico.
This is to avoid a shutdown of the government apparatus, which would give Elon Musk and his efficiency authority Doge even more leeway to make cuts in the public sector.
Minority leader Chuck Schumer has made it clear ahead of Friday's deadline that he intends to vote yes – a statement that has aroused anger within the party's left wing, which calls it a "capitulation".
- Musk has already said he wants a shutdown, and it has been reported that he is already making plans to accelerate the destruction of important government programs and services, says Schumer.

Musk shared a post that Hitler did not kill millions
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has shared a post on X in which it is alleged that dictators Stalin, Hitler and Mao did not kill millions of people, but that it was public servants who did this. The post was originally published by a user who calls herself "Alice Smith".
The publication comes after Musk was criticized for a hand gesture - which was interpreted as a Hitler salute - during Donald Trump's inauguration.
Musk has also been instructed by President Donald Trump to cut the number of positions in the American government.
Lee Saunders, president of the AFSCME union that brings together public employees, comments on the post by saying that his members have chosen to make society strong and safe rather than enrich themselves:
"They are not, as the world's richest man suggests, people who commit genocide".
JD Vance booed by entire concert hall in Washington
When US Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha took their seats at a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra on Thursday night, the concert hall was drowned in boos, reports The Guardian.
- You ruined this place, shouted one person in the audience. Vance took it all in stride, waving and smiling.
The concert was held at the popular cultural center Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Last month, President Donald Trump fired 14 members of the board and appointed himself as the new chairman.
This because he did not like the offerings, which he considered too "woke".

After the Greenland threat – the US asks Denmark for eggs
The US has asked several European countries, including Denmark, if they can export eggs to the country to deal with sharply rising egg prices. This is reported by the trade association Danish Eggs to Reuters.
The request from the US Department of Agriculture coincides with a series of new US tariffs against European countries, as well as Donald Trump's threat to annex Greenland, a self-governing part of Denmark.
US authorities have also turned to Swedish egg producers.
– I don't think we will export. We also have an egg shortage in Europe and we already have export channels there that we use. So it's more like we export within Europe, says Kronägg CEO Markus Lindström to GP.
