EftAfter yesterday's tariff game - Trump raises tariffs again
Updated 18.46 | Published 17.03
Yesterday, Donald Trump threatened with tariffs of ten percent.
Now he is turning up the pressure - and raising it to 15 percent.
"Many have 'cheated' the US for decades," he writes on Truth Social.
On Friday, the US Supreme Court issued a ruling.
The trade tariffs that Donald Trump introduced in 2025 were illegal - and should be declared invalid.
The ruling made Trump see red.
During a press conference, he raged against the court's decision - and claimed that he would get new tariffs of ten percent passed in addition to the tariffs that already existed.
– This is a disgrace to our nation, he said then.
Raises even more
On Saturday, the tariff row will now escalate.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump writes that the new tariffs will be increased to 15 percent.
“In the coming months, the Trump administration will determine and issue the new and legally permissible tariffs.”
He continues:
“I, as President of the United States, will immediately raise the global tariff of ten percent on countries – many of which have “cheated” the United States for decades without having to pay for it (until I showed up!) – to the fully permissible and legally proven level of 15 percent.”

Swedish Minister: Working day and night
Sweden’s Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (M) calls the move frivolous.
"This is not a serious way to conduct trade policy. The government will guide Swedish companies through all the different messages with our customs hotline. At the same time, it is obvious that we need to become less economically dependent on the US. This is best done by finding new markets for Swedish companies. That is why we are working day and night to conclude new free trade agreements with large parts of South America, India and Australia," Dousa writes in a comment to Aftonbladet.
