The Geneva talks end: “Russia is stalling”
Russian state media reports that the ongoing peace talks in Geneva are ending, AFP reports. Russia’s chief negotiator describes the negotiations as “difficult but businesslike”, but new steps are reportedly planned soon.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj describes the trilateral talks between the US, Ukraine and Russia as difficult and accuses Russia of trying to sabotage progress.
“We can see that Russia is trying to stall negotiations that could have already reached the final phase,” he writes on X.
On Wednesday morning, however, the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, stated that “significant progress” had been made.

Environmental groups are suing Trump for climate action
Environmental and health organizations in the US are suing the Trump administration for tearing up the foundation of US climate work. This is reported by the US media.
“We are suing to stop Trump from burning up our children’s future to give a monster dividend to oil companies,” lawyer David Pettit told AFP.
The president recently decided to remove emissions regulations for cars and overturn a landmark decision by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that greenhouse gases threaten the health of Americans.

The French left-wing populist party Indomitable France (LFI) has been forced to evacuate its headquarters in Paris after a bomb threat, the party's coordinator Manuel Bompard said on X.
"The police are on site. All employees and activists are safe," he wrote.
The threat comes after an assistant to one of the party's MPs was accused of involvement in the fatal beating of a 23-year-old far-right activist in Lyon. About a dozen people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement. However, no connection to the bomb threat has been established, writes France Info.

writes AFP. The election will not be held until 2028, but she is already
announcing her candidacy.
“I offer my life, my strength and my future in the service of our country,” she said in a statement.
Duterte
is the daughter of the criminally charged former president Rodrigo
Duterte and has in recent years been in open conflict with current
president Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Last year, she was also the subject of an impeachment trial, accused of making death threats and corruption.
Western France flooded after record rain
Parts
of western France are flooded after it has rained for 35 days in a row,
longer than at any time since measurements began in 1959, according to
the Meteo-France meteorological institute.
In several cities, streets and buildings are under water, and some residents have been evacuated.
The situation is expected to worsen when storm Pedro moves in on Thursday with even greater amounts of rain, writes France Info.
“We expect the flooding to reach its peak only on Saturday or Sunday,” Bruno Drapron, mayor of the city of Saintes, told AFP.
