Chinese Researchers: Build "Underground Chinese Wall"
Chinese energy experts are urging the government to bury power plants and other energy infrastructure deep underground, where it would be more difficult for hostile states or actors to both detect and damage. This is reported by the South China Morning Post.
The proposed project is described as an "underground Chinese Wall".
"Moving critical infrastructure underground and building secret strategic tunnels with backup systems would significantly strengthen the country's defenses," researcher Zhang Shishu at the state-owned company Power China writes in an academic journal.

Iran has chosen a new leader - does not want to reveal who
On Sunday, Iran's Council of Experts decided who will be appointed as the new supreme leader after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reports AFP. The group does not yet want to say who has been chosen.
Mohsen Heydari, one of the council members, tells state media that “the most suitable candidate” has been chosen.
Earlier, there were reports that the Ayatollah’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, had been appointed as the new supreme leader.
This morning, the Israeli military wrote in a statement that they see every new leader as a target.
“We warn anyone who intends to participate in appointing the successor that we will not hesitate to target you too,” the IDF wrote on X.
“Crocodiles everywhere” after flooding in Australia
Authorities in the Northern Territory in Australia are warning the population not to go into or on the water after the major floods of recent days, writes The Guardian.
“There are crocodiles just about everywhere – please do not go into the water,” says Shaun Gill at the regional disaster agency.
In addition to the crocodiles, the water, which comes from the flooded Katherine River, is also very strong, according to Shaun Gill.
More than 1,000 people are in temporary accommodation after being forced to leave their homes in the area. According to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, the floods could last for at least another week.
The development of AI assistants
Unsafe AI agent is praised at a party: "Ready to be killed with a sword for this"
Several newspapers visited Claw Con this weekend, a convention for users of the controversial AI service Open Claw, and testify to very strong enthusiasm.
- I believe in this so much. I am prepared to be killed with a sword for this, says Vincent Koc, one of the participants, to NBC News.
Open Claw is a system that is supposed to make chatbots like Chat GPT and Claude more likely to act in the long term and on their own. Both critics and supporters agree that the system has major, perhaps insurmountable, security flaws.
According to The Free Press, convention organizer Michael Galpert spoke about “riding the claw” and “starting a new era.” He describes Open Claw as a way to break the monopoly of big AI companies.
The Verge reports that another speaker urged attendees to give their AI solutions their own names and start treating them like pets. The evening ends, according to the paper, with a man wearing claw-shaped mittens rocking back and forth on a nearly empty dance floor.
