French wildfire not under control

The fire that broke out in the Fontainebleau forest, south of Paris this weekend, is still not under control. according to TF1.

On Monday, a smaller fire broke out in another part of the forest and together the two fires have devoured almost 2,000 hectares of land, French media report.

600 firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. Firefighting aircraft have been deployed to try to get the fires under control.

The important A6 motorway between Paris and Lyon was partially closed to traffic on Monday. French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot told CNews/Europe 1 on Tuesday that the highway will remain closed until the fire is under control.

On Monday, two people were arrested on suspicion of starting the fire.
