Middle East crisis Strait of Hormuz

Iran: Will not let the US interfere in the Strait

Iran will not let the US interfere in how the Strait of Hormuz is managed, the country's top military command says according to Reuters.

Any attempt by the US military to pass the strait outside the routes designated by Iran, and without coordination with the Iranian military, will meet "strong resistance".

The statement comes after Donald Trump said that the US will "take over" the Strait of Hormuz and act as its "guardian angels", for which he wants to be paid.

Trump: US reimposes blockade on Iran - charges for shipping through the strait

The US is reimposing the blockade on Iranian ports, writes Donald Trump on Truth Social.

The US will also demand a fee of 20 percent of all shipping that travels through the Strait of Hormuz, he further writes. The money will go to keep the strait safe, according to Trump.

“The United States will henceforth be known as the guardian of the Strait of Hormuz,” he writes.

The process begins immediately.

Trump: We will be the guardian angels of the Strait

The United States will “keep, and probably manage” the Strait of Hormuz, says Donald Trump in an interview with the television program “Fox & Friends.”

– We will be the guardians of the Strait. We might call it the guardian angels of the Strait. And we should get paid for that, he continues.

The president does not give any details about how it will work or who he wants paid.

The United States and Iran have once again escalated attacks on each other in recent days. The United States claims that the Strait is open, and Iran that it is closed.

Traffic through the Strait has fallen to its lowest level in two months, according to shipping data according to Reuters.
