New bombing in Pakistan – 14 dead
At least 14 people have been killed and more than 20 have been injured when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northern Pakistan on Sunday.
The attack took place during a protest in a busy area near a police station. Among the 14 dead are four police officers.
In the northern frontier province where the bombing occurred, Pakistani authorities are fighting a growing insurgency by the Pakistani Taliban movement TTP.
So far this year, more than 800 people have been killed in militant attacks in Pakistan.
The country has previously accused migrant groups originating from Afghanistan of similar attacks in the border provinces, a claim denied by the Taliban government in Kabul.
Another bombing occurred in the same province in May.
