Putin: Gas could flow to Europe if deal with US

If the US and Russia agree on energy cooperation, a gas pipeline to Europe could be opened. This is what Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a live broadcast, according to several media outlets.

He emphasizes that this would be beneficial for Europe thanks to cheap Russian gas.

He also says that Russia is not against a ceasefire but that the agreement must lead to long-term peace.

Document: EU proposes joint arms purchases

The EU Commission is proposing to make joint arms purchases on behalf of member states in response to Donald Trump's policies, reports the FT.

"At the request of member states, the Commission can act as a central purchasing body for weapons on their behalf," the Commission wrote in a defense policy document seen by the newspaper.

Pooling demand through joint purchases is considered the "most cost-effective" way to build up Europe's defense, the document says.

According to the Commission, the move is expected to have major benefits for the member states and the defense industry.

Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson and Rural Affairs Minister Peter Kullgren are calling selected players from the food chain to meet for talks about the rapidly rising food prices. This is stated in a press release.
