New Israeli attacks last night – 13 killed

13 people have been killed in new Israeli attacks on Gaza last night, reports the BBC.

Two civilians were killed and five others were injured when a drone struck a tent near the al-Mawasi humanitarian zone. Israel says it was attacking Hamas targets.

During the night to Tuesday, Israel carried out the most extensive attacks in Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect on January 19. Over 400 people were killed then. After that, Israel announced that it will continue its military operations in Gaza.

UN employees killed in attack in Gaza

Two UN employees have been killed in an air attack against a headquarters in central Gaza on Wednesday, says a UN source for AFP.

According to Gaza's health department, there are a total of six UN employees who were "seriously injured" or killed in the attack on Wednesday. The information has not been confirmed by the UN.

AFP has taken part in surveillance images from the site showing UN vehicles and ambulances that transport three men to hospitals. Two of them, according to the news agency, carry bulletproof west and one of them has a T-shirt with "Unmas" print, which stands for the "United Nations Mine Action Service".

The Israeli military denies involvement in the attack.

"The IDF has not hit the UN building," the army reports in a statement.

Ministry of Health: 970 killed in Gaza in 48 hours

970 people have been killed in Gaza in 48 hours, AFP writes with reference to the Hamas -controlled Ministry of Health.

During the night until Tuesday, Israel conducted its most comprehensive attack on Gaza since the ceasefire began in early January. Then it was stated that more than 400 people were killed - but now the figure has almost doubled, according to the Ministry of Health.

The total death figure since the start of the war was at 10 o'clock on Monday at 48577. Now it is dead in 49547. On Tuesday morning, Israel stated that they carried out flights to some 30 goals in Gaza.

The figures from Gaza have been difficult for international media and the UN to verify. But the UN and other bodies have previously regarded the Ministry of Health's statistics as reliable. The Israeli military has in turn questioned their statistics.
