The Russian invasion

Negotiations
New talks between Russia and the US postponed

The next talks between the US and Russia may be postponed until early next week, AFP reports. The US is also expected to hold talks with Ukraine again soon.

Reuters reports that the US and the Kremlin will discuss, among other things, safer trade routes on the Black Sea. It had previously been announced that the parties would meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, but that has now changed.

– It may not be Sunday, we are now agreeing on the nuances, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told AFP.

US President Donald Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin on Tuesday about a 30-day ceasefire on energy infrastructure. Yesterday he also spoke with Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ukraine meets US in Saudi Arabia on MondayBy Linus Lindgren

Ukraine and the US will meet in Saudi Arabia on Monday. This is what Volodymyr Zelenskyj told Norwegian media at a press conference in connection with his visit to Oslo.

Zelenskyj says that he himself will not participate in the meeting, but that it is what he calls the technical team that will meet.

The Kremlin has stated that a meeting with the US will be held in Saudi Arabia on Monday. Russia and Ukraine are not expected to participate in the same meeting.

Zelenskyj not open to selling nuclear power to the US

Volodymyr Zelenskyj says that the Ukrainian nuclear power plants belong to the Ukrainian people and that he is not open to handing them over to the US. This is reported by AFP.

The move comes the day after Donald Trump suggested in a conversation with the Ukrainian president that the United States could take over ownership of Europe's largest nuclear power plant, located in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine.

Zelensky says he cannot currently make a decision about the nuclear power plant as it is occupied by Russia.

- Whether they want to take it back from the Russians, whether they want to modernize it and invest. That is another question, an open question, and we can talk about it, he says.

Putin in closed oligarch meeting: “No peace expected in the near future”

Vladimir Putin has told a gathering of Russian oligarchs that they should not expect a quick and peaceful solution to the war in Ukraine in the near future. This is stated by several people who participated in the meeting to Russian media according to the independent Moscow Times.

– I will put it this way: The president advised us not to be naive and to understand how many people and interests are involved in the processes that are currently underway, says an anonymous meeting participant.

Several other sources who were at the meeting give a similar picture of Putin's message.

The meeting between Putin and the oligarchs took place behind closed doors on Tuesday, shortly before Putin and Donald Trump's phone call in which Putin agreed to a 30-day ceasefire against Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

The world's response
Zelensky appeals for billions for ammunition

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is asking allied EU countries for at least five billion euros as quickly as possible to be able to produce artillery ammunition, Reuters reports.

Zelensky, who is currently in Norway, spoke to the EU via video link. During the speech, he took a dig at Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has opposed EU support for Ukraine.

– It is anti-European for one person to block decisions that are important for an entire continent, he says.

He also expresses a need for Europe to have “technological independence” and be able to produce its own weapons.

Zelenskyj in Norway – to meet with top leaders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has landed in Norway to meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, the Norwegian government said in a press release.

“I look forward to constructive talks on how Norway can best support Ukraine in the short and long term,” Gahr Støre said in a statement.

Zelenskyj and Gahr Støre will have several meetings during the day and will also meet Norway’s new Finance Minister, and former NATO chief, Jens Stoltenberg.

A press conference will be held at 3:30 p.m.
