The shift in power in the US

Angry Musk threatens sources: "They will be found"

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are furious after the New York Times reported that the Pentagon will inform Musk about US strategies in the event of a war with China, reports Politico.

The article was based on source information that has been denied by the White House. In a post on X, Elon Musk writes that he looks forward to seeing people in the Pentagon "who leak intentionally false information" prosecuted.

"They will be found."

In a post on his own platform Truth Social, Trump launches a harsh attack on the reputable newspaper and calls the reporting "fake".

Report: Musk to be given insight into US war strategy

On Friday, the Pentagon will inform Elon Musk about what US strategies are in the event of a potential war with China, two sources with insight told the New York Times.

If the information is correct, it means a significant expansion of the billionaire's role in the federal government and underlines the conflicts of interest it entails, since Musk's companies have large financial interests in China, the newspaper writes.

The presentation is said to consist of a 20 to 30-page slideshow, which lists, among other things, which Chinese targets the US would strike in the event of a conflict.

The Pentagon denies the information. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth writes that the meeting is not about secret war plans, but "innovation, efficiency and smart production".

"Trump sees the department as a breeding ground for 'woke'"

Donald Trump's order to close down parts of the US Department of Education is just one example of how he is using aggressive power to focus on research and education. This is what CNN's Stephen Collinson writes in an analysis.

According to Collinson, Republicans see elite universities as a breeding ground for liberal activism and the Department of Education as a source of "wokeness" - and ultimately a foundation for the Democratic Party.

"Elite universities in particular are seen as incubators for liberal protests and customs that the MAGA movement is trying to eradicate," he writes.

In Axios, Sareen Habeshian writes that Trump's presidential order is unprecedented but that it is likely to face legal resistance because it requires the green light from Congress.

"In the meantime, however, the administration could cut important funding," she writes in an analysis.

Tesla's Future
Trump: Tesla Vandals Should Be Jailed in El Salvador

Donald Trump is proposing that those who vandalize Tesla cars should receive 20-year prison sentences in El Salvador. The American president writes this on his own social media platform Truth Social.

"I look forward to seeing the sick terrorist thugs get 20-year prison sentences for what they are doing to Elon Musk and Tesla. Maybe they can serve them in El Salvador's prisons, which have recently become so famous for their wonderful conditions!" Trump writes, referring to the country's harsh treatment of criminals.

Trump has recently expressed increasing support for his right-hand man, Tesla owner Elon Musk. Among other things, he has tried to sell Tesla cars outside the White House.

Tesla cars and dealerships have been vandalized around the US and the electric car company's stock has plummeted in recent weeks.

Venezuelan Deportees Signed to Be Sent Home – Not to El Salvador

Some of the Venezuelans deported from the US to El Salvador last weekend had signed documents agreeing to be sent to their home country, relatives who spoke to the Financial Times said.

Relatives of two men said such documents had been signed, but that they were later able to see their family members in a video from the high-security prison released by El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele.

Three other people, with similar testimonies, are represented by a Venezuelan US-based human rights organization. It is not clear how many of the 238 deportees are said to have signed the documents to be sent to Venezuela.
