Iran-US Relations

Trump: Negotiations with Iran must continue

Donald Trump has just had a “very good” meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he writes on Truth Social.

“We did not come to anything concrete other than that I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see if an agreement can be reached,” he continues.

The last time Iran obstructed negotiations, it did not go well for them, the president writes, referring to the US airstrikes on June 22 last year.

Trump and Netanyahu also discussed the “tremendous progress in Gaza,” the president writes, claiming:

“There is now real peace in the Middle East.”

Task: New aircraft carrier to be sent to the Middle East

The Pentagon is preparing to send another aircraft carrier to the Middle East in preparation for a potential attack on Iran, three US government sources told the Wall Street Journal.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was considering sending a second aircraft carrier in case negotiations with Iran collapse. On Wednesday, he met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, writing afterward that he said the talks must continue.

The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently in the Middle East. If a second ship is sent, it will likely be the USS George H W Bush, which is currently participating in exercises off the US East Coast, according to the sources.
