Protests on the anniversary: "Total failure"
On the anniversary of the October 7 attack, the Israeli government is facing sharp criticism from survivors and the families of victims.
"They are trying to make us forget what happened," says Einav Zangauker, whose son was held hostage in Gaza for a long period.
"We will not forget. We will demand the truth," she continues, according to The Times of Israel.
Like the majority of Israelis, Zangauker is calling for an independent inquiry into the 2023 attack—something Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to authorize.
"Without an inquiry, we can never be certain that it won't happen again," says Mayan Sherman, whose son was killed in an Israeli strike while held captive in Gaza, according to Ynet.
"Total failure" is the message displayed at the art installation on a Tel Aviv beach where Sherman and others have gathered.
In a separate protest against the government, the water in a Tel Aviv fountain has been dyed blood-red, Haaretz reports.
